Much has been said about this subject. CAUSE = being in control and making things happen in your environment. EFFECT = being controlled or having things happen to you.
As a practitioner, or frankly just as a business owner, you are very likely feeling a lot of EFFECT right now. Maybe not for much longer, but it is still very real.
Let me tell you, the feeling of being EFFECT is the worst. Apathy can set in and much will be lost.
But what do you do about it?
You continue to push hard. You dedicate yourself to helping others and you put forth a plan of action that will keep your ship afloat and prepared and ready to come back full force.
Here are a few things that we encourage you to do, starting right now.
STAY IN CONTACT WITH YOUR PUBLIC
You have a mailing list of your customers and patients. Email, call and text them regularly. Keep you and your practice in their minds and thoughts with helpful tips, videos and anything you can think of. They need to be hearing from you. Include some offers of some kind, but overall your goal is to provide good information, help, reassurance and so-on.
If you let staff go, stay in touch with them as well if at all appropriate. You may need/want them back.
Offer consultations or conversations with your customers and patients. Use a program such as Zoom.us to host video meetings, or Facebook for Facebook lives with your patients or customers. Use a program like Calendly.com for easy scheduling. If you have a service you can charge for, then do that. Otherwise, use the meeting as a way to stay connected and when/where appropriate, take orders for supplements or other products that you sell.
OFFER DROP SHIPPING
Patients and customers still need their nutritional supplements. Offer a discount and no-cost or low-cost shipping methods and keep the nutrition flowing.
DROP SHIPPING THROUGH BODYHEALTH
Talk with your sales rep about having BodyHealth drop ship products directly to your customers.
Find ways that you can put your skills, knowledge or wisdom to use in your community. Follow CDC Guidelines of course, but find out what else you can DO to help others.
If you are staying at home with family, make it quality time. Play classic board games, find new games, read books, watch documentaries, etc. It is not a good idea to have everybody zoned out on their electronic devices. Be socially interactive.
ART & MUSIC
Use this time to work on your art or music. Paint, sketch, sculpt, sing, play guitar, piano or other musical instruments. Find on-line classes to help you get better at your hobby.
What are your hobbies? Writing? Art? Collecting? Reading? Building model airplanes? This is a great time to work on your hobbies.
Every day you should do a minimum of 1 hour of exercise. Don’t overdo it, as you don’t want to stress out your immune system. But MOVE YOUR BODY and get everyone in your household to move theirs.
As long as permitted by your municipality, go for walks by yourself or with your family. Listen to an audio-book or just walk and look at things. Notice things you may not have seen before: Beautiful architecture on houses and buildings, squirrels and birds, trees on the horizon, etc. Extrovert your attention.
AVOID WATCHING THE NEWS
A few minutes to get updated on things if needed is fine, but that’s all you need. Getting into it more can just be depressing and doesn’t help your or the people who depend on you.
CONFRONT YOUR FINANCES
CAUSE and EFFECT are related to finances as well. If you avoid and do not confront your financial scene, you will absolutely be the EFFECT of it. So I recommend you KNOW where you stand. And if needed, cut back on as much spend as you can for the time being, when it comes to things that are not essential. Talk with your CPA about your investments and other financial aspects and make sure you are doing the right thing. And… of course be sure to apply for all of the financial aid that the government has to offer.
TOUCH BASE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Go through your phone and social media and find people that you might have lost contact with in the past and give them a ring. Spend some time catching up. FaceTime or video chat and show them your house or your neighborhood and have them do the same. It’s fun.
I am confident that we will absolutely get through this nonsense.
The world will get back to normal.
Keep your chin up. Remain CAUSE over your life and environment to the best of your ability.
And call us if you need to and we will help you however we can.
